William T. "Billy" Crouch,
56, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at his residence.
A son of the late William H. "Tom" and Helen J. "Pat" Sanders
Crouch, he was born in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 16, 1952, and lived
his entire life in Aiken.
Billy attended Meade Hall and St. Angela Academy where he was
an outstanding basketball player. He also attended USC Aiken and
Aiken Technical College. He was the owner and operator of Aiken
Bowl, which his father built in 1953 and operated until his retirement.
Billy is survived by his aunt and uncle, Brenda and Bob Sanders
of Lawrenceville, Ga., and many cousins. His interest in history
and genealogy led him to Edgefield, where both Crouch's and Sanders'
ancestors lived from the 1700s.
He was a member of the SCV Camp 1245, Aiken,
and the M.O.S.&B
Maxcy Gregg Chapter. He was a lifetime member of the S.A.R. (Sons
of the American Revolution). He was most proud of his membership
in Aiken Masonic Lodge 156 A.F.M. and the Aiken Shrine Club, Jamil
Temple.
Billy lived his life with gusto and saw
each day as another opportunity to share with friends and family.
He was "Mr. South Carolina" in
all things but football. A true "Georgia Bulldog" fan,
home games in Athens became his passion.
He provided us with many fond memories. His quick smile and compassion
for others will live with us forever.
